Guy Ticketed For Holding Up A Sign Warning Drivers Of A DUI Checkpoint Deserves A Medal (And Another Medal For His Shirt)

Daily Mail- A Cleveland man has accused police of violating his First Amendment rights to free speech after they ?cited him for holding a sign warning motorists to turn if they wanted to avoid a drunken-driving checkpoint. Douglas Odolecki, 43, warned motorists on Friday night in Parma with a sign that said: ‘Check point ahead! Turn now!’ Parma police spokesman Kevin Riley said officers cited Odolecki after he refused to remove the ‘Turn now!’ portion of the sign. Officers had previously consulted with city attorneys to determine if Odolecki violated any laws by displaying the sign, Riley said. Odolecki plans to fight the citation for obstructing official business.

So the article says Douglas is going to fight the ticket because the police violated his First Amendment rights to free speech.  If there’s one thing I know about myself, it’s that I have pretty much zero understanding of how Amendments should be interpreted.  I know they’re written on a really old piece of paper and are the foundation of our country but that’s about it.  The granular details?  No clue.  I have a hard enough time remembering the four digit password to unlock my iPhone.  I don’t need anything else clogging my brain cells.  Did the cops ticketing this guy for warning drivers of a DUI stop violate his rights?  I literally have no fucking clue.  What I do know is I’m insulted the cops would give him a ticket for doing this.  It’s simple.  A guy saw the cops tricking drivers into their little trap, he didn’t like it, made a sign and parked himself just ahead of the cops and started redirecting cars.  The guy is a hero.  It’s called getting one-upped.  It’s called getting beat at your own game.  I don’t know how the cop’s brain interpret an action like that but my brain inter pets it as a good deed.  People helping people get out of a potential drunk driving charge..  Forget giving this guy a ticket, give him a medal and his own day of the year.

PS- That shirt is an A+.  I don’t know if CopBlock.com is a real thing or what it is but Cop Block is hilarious and fun to say.
